The ZSI 100 FTM implant is made of totally biocompatible silicone (NuSil brand). It is comprised of three components:
A plate attached to the pelvic bone with six stitches.
A central body and cable: The central body is adjustable between 13 cm and 16 cm. The cable allows the implant to be folded to place it in its lower “repose” position or unfolded to its “erect” position.
Framework of the glans: This framework helps mold the glans for phalloplasty. It is possible to remove this component.
There is a variability of +/- 1 cm, depending on the plate’s placement on the pelvic bone, which affects the size of the penis. For example, a ZSI 100 FTM implant of 16 cm can give an effective size of 15 cm to 17 cm, depending on its placement on the pelvic bone. ZSI makes the implant adjustable, and the surgeon who places the implant must calculate the position of the plate that attaches to the pelvic bone. This decision is based on the final size desired and what best suits the phalloplasty of the individual patient. The doctor makes the ultimate decision on the size of the ZSI 100 FTM implant.
Note: If your phalloplasty has fibrosis and the glans of the implant is too large for the phalloplasty, it’s possible to use the implant without the glans component. According to the needs of the patient, the surgeon can sculpt the silicone of the implant’s central body.
ZSI is the only European manufacturer of artificial urinary sphincters and of malleable and inflatable penile implants, as solutions for male urological problems (incontinence), sexual complications (Erectile Dysfunction), and gender identity procedures (prostheses for trans men and women).
