CAU CONGRESS

Every year ZSI has the pleasure of attending the Congress of the CAU (Confederación Americana de Urología, American Confederation of Urology) to show our products and meet with doctors and distributors in Latin America.

The CAU traditionally focuses on cisgender males, inasmuch as transgender people are still not completely accepted in Latin America. During this conference, ZSI attended and participated in the panel offered by Dr. Ervin Kocjancic, director of the Division of Pelvic Health and Reconstructive Urology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, accompanied by plastic surgeon Loren Schechter. Their presentation was titled La cirugía de confirmación de sexo, paso a paso (sex-confirmation surgery, step by step). (Have a look at the programm here)

By providing a forum for the subject of sex change, the CAU has demonstrated open-mindedness and innovation, making room for new technologies and research.

The two-hour presentation was the result of many meetings, debates, and exchanges among experts from various countries (Panama, Bolivia, Peru, Spain, Honduras, El Salvador, etc). The interest from all parties was palpable. Some attendees had never performed phalloplasty and were very interested in these surgical techniques.

At the end of the conference, ZSI presented its implants, considered by experts to be the best solution for FTM patients as well as for cisgender men suffering from penile cancer.

During the conference, the book Surgical Management of the Transgender Patient by Loren Schechter was presented. Written by this excellent physician, the book constitutes a gold mine of valuable information on the subject.

ZSI is the only European manufacturer of artificial urinary sphincters and of malleable and inflatable penile implants, as solutions for male urological problems (incontinence), sexual complications (Erectile Dysfunction), and gender identity procedures (prostheses for trans men and women).
